This book is about a young Russian girl named Anna Grazinsky. Before World War I, she was a countess in her country. She has lived her whole life being pampered, and spoiled by her father. Despite being spoiled, she sees good in everything and everyone. But after her beloved father dies, she and her family are forced to flee the country. Anna decides to take a job as a housemaid at Mersham, home of the Earl of Westerholme. She keeps this job a secret from everyone except her governess, Pinny. Anna works harder than the rest of the servants in the house, and they grow to love her. She soon makes friends with the Earl's uncle and his staff. When the Earl returns home, she finds him more younger and handsome then she expected. The Earl, Rupert, takes immediately to Anna and begins to fall in love with her. Unfortunately, the Earl is engaged. And his fiance is a cruel, selfish woman who mistreats the Earl's friends, staff, and even his dog! As the wedding approaches Anna finds herself falling for the Earl. There's just one problem: Anna has to keep her identity a secret, even from the Earl. Will Anna and Rupert have their happily ever after? Read A Countess Below Stairs to find out!
